Ilana Snyder taught English in high schools, then worked in teacher education at Monash University for almost three decades as a lecturer and researcher. She has published eight academic books, including Hypertext and The Literacy Wars, and many journal articles and book chapters. She is emeritus professor in the Faculty of Education, Monash University. She has also published book reviews and commentaries in the Australian Book Review. All About My Brother is her first foray into life writing. The book is an intimate exploration of how a family coped with an intellectually disabled child and the disturbing revelations of his abuse, over many years, at the hands of the Brothers of St John of God.
